Execution Rocks

55 feet tall with granite construction. No public access. The name of this reef is reported to be due to a British practice during the Revolutionary War of killing prisoners on the reef by chaining them to the rocks and allowing the high tide to drown them (no one knows how true that may be).

Montauk Point Lighthouse Museum

George Washington ordered the construction of this famous first lighthouse in New York state standing on a bluff & marking the easternmost point of LI. Made of brownstone and almost 200 years old, this lovely 80 ft. lighthouse has a octogon shape. No public access.

At 46 feet tall this red brick monster used to be a warning to sailors they were about to crash into the deadly rocks. No public access.
