Typically, vineyards, wineries, and winemaking, are synonymous with the West Coast: Napa Valley, Santa Barbara, Willamette Valley, etc. However, the East Coast has its fair share of wineries – such as Martha’s Vineyard in New England, or any of the many vineyards located in Long Island, NY.
The majority of these New York wineries and vineyards are located on Long Island’s East End, on the North Fork and South Fork in the Hamptons. Several ideal conditions – such as a sunny, maritime climate and rich soil – make this region ideal for wine production. Winemakers in these Long Island beach communities are most known for their Bordeaux varieties of wine: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and more. Several of the listed wineries and vineyards offer wine tasting rooms, wine tours, wine clubs, and hosting for special events. Contact your local winery or vineyard for more information.
