This is a yearly tradition where an old wooden vessel is burned on the south lawn of the Long Island Maritime Museum. The event is based (somewhat loosely) on a Viking tradition of burial at sea. This is a safe all ages event. The West Sayville Fire Department is responsible for lighting the boat afire. The event starts at 6 PM and seafood, burgers, hot cider and more treats are available during the festivities. Halloween costumes are welcome around the bonfire.
