This week Smithtown will be hosting their Restaurant Week where the participating restaurants will be serving $25 prix-fixe three course meals. It is a great way to get a savory meal especially during these recession times. You can really top off the night by using a local limousine or black Long Island car service to get you there.

The streets of Huntington were covered in snow until late last night. From 9pm-12am parking was restricted on New York Ave / 110 and Main Street Huntington and Huntington Township’s clean up crew moved in to begin the street cleaning.
It was impressive to see the big trucks and and pay loaders big and small quickly maneuvering to rid the streets of the masses of snow.

The internet is continually changing. To keep up with the changes and grow with the times companies whom have sold their products online in the past have been making efforts to streamline their web stores. Internet marketing has become more and more “intelligent” through the tracking of customer’s buying habits and history. This has allowed companies to target their audiences very specifically allowing for a much higher success rate.
Social Networking sites have especially taken advantage of this resource with mixed results. It has had success in the sense that ads on pages are targeted directly to the user which has raised the “click through rates” (for those of you non-internet advertising savvy CTR as defined by Wikipedia).
Facebook took this concept one step to far and in November had to readjust their policies as users were finding that the broadcasting of user’s online purchases to be an invasion of privacy and inappropriate.
As users change their status, add photographs, “tag” their friends in pictures, change details in their profiles etc. Facebook automatically generates a news-feed which gets sent to all of that user’s friends.
Facebook implemented Beacon. Beacon is a program which posts news-feeds every time a Facebook user would make an online purchase. This very quickly became a problem; users quickly became resentful of their purchases and spending habits broadcast ( New York Times.)
Personally I find Beacon an invasion. I choose what information I want to make public on Facebook and would not want my purchases made public; or at least enable me to easily decide which purchases I want made public and which I don’t why should I become free advertising for these multi-million dollar companies could I at least get some compensation for my bill boarding?
Internet Marketing and Advertising is a great venue through which to get the word out about your business be sure to visit our sample ad page to familiarize yourself with our options, here is an example of a full page ad which would drive traffic directly from natural Google searches to your website.

I began a project doing promotional work for a film called “London to Brighton” getting the word out about its US premier at the Cinema Village, NY February 8, 2008.
Today, as I posted the advance quotes released by critics such as Scott Hoffman, Moviepicturefilm.com I actually came across another film which is being released “Caramel”.
I was born in New York City, New York and have had the city coursing through my veins ever since. My parents are both immigrants my mother from France and my father from Lebanon. “Caramel” is a film set in modern day Lebanon depicting the lives of five women.
The director states:
“…I wanted to show a different Lebanon a Lebanon that you do not necessarily know…” She emphasized that: “…I was not going to talk about the war again…”
In a country which has been rated as the 8th least peaceful countries she wanted to bring a film which showed the people living their daily lives humanizing a country which has been torn by war for centuries now.
I have not spent much time in Lebanon and have always wanted to become more familiarized with my Lebanese culture. It touches on many issues taboo in the Arab world here is a report on NPR
“London to Brighton” has been praised by Scott Hoffman, MoviePictureFilm.com as being:
“A stunning cinematic achievement!”
“Unforgettable! Brilliant, intense and uncompromising. Prepare yourself.”
“A thought provoking shocker! It will stay with you for days.”
I look forward to hopefully catching Caramel this weekend at the Angelika Film Center

“London to Brighton” film opens at the Cinema Village, NY February 8, 2008.
From the minute the movie opens you are taken in and begin to question what exactly this eleven year old girl is doing in a dirty bathroom after having been left there by an older woman with a black eye. As the well directed, and filmed movie continues you begin to understand that the young girl, Joanne, is a runaway and the older woman, Kelly, a prostitute are on the run.
This is a great film which features music from the London underground with artists such as: lol Hammond’s Myspace , Plan B’s Myspace , Meeker’s Myspace , and Roger Eno’s Myspace .
Be sure to see this film which is premiering in NYC February 8; bring your friends to experience a part of the London underground. Brought to you by Outsider Pictures

My father and I went to look at what was being featured at the Americana mall this year for the holidays in Manhasset Long Island NY here are some of the sales that I found along my way:
- At kate spade if you head for the back right wall you will find a selection of purses in metallic, suede, and stripped fabric purses on sale for the holiday season.
- Heirshleifer’s is featuring many sales such as jmendel fur pieces, black, beige satin, and purple satin holiday dresses. Jimmy Choo shoes and purses are also on sale. Versache, Valentino, and Miu Miu separates are all on sale.
- At Giorgio Armani they are already featuring their pre spring collection 2008 as well as other winter separates which are on sale (to start making room for the new spring collection) .
- At Slavatore Ferrragamo there are scarves, handbags, accessories such as wallets, key chains, and clutches; shoes, ready to wear separates are also on sale. Be sure to try on the Verde Bott (3129) jacket, which is exquisite, and on sale. This beautiful jacket made of shaved mink is incredible. They also feature a more mature quarter length jacket in blue teal mink, shaved with a cable and woven pattern into the jacket, which is more appropriate for a woman with more mature taste.
- Carolina Herrara other than their exquisite clothing be sure to visit and ask for James a delightful personal shopping assistant who will be sure to make sure you’re dressed to the nines for your next holiday party where they are featuring all ready to wear men’s wear and women’s ready to wear (including evening dresses) on sale.
- Dior is having a sale on a wall full of shoes and select handbags.
- Oscar Delarenta has a half off sale on all evening separates. Their exotic fabric handbags in coyote and mink are also half off as well as the shoes, and pre-fall/fall collection. All sales are final
These are some of the sales featured at the Manhasset Long Island NY Americana Mall this holiday season be sure to check them out.
Another great store which resides a little farther down on the strip at the Americana Mall in Manhasset, Long Island, NY: The Sharper Image. The Long Island, Manhasset Americana Mall Sharper Image’s most popular products this year are a motley concoction with sure-fire smiles for many members of you holiday shopping list. The Ion Audio USB Turntable ($199.95) is a great gift for dad which he can now even plug into his computer allowing him to “rip†songs from his old lp’s and right onto his Ipod. The Panasonic Body Massage might be a great pick for grandma depending on your budget; because although it is the ultimate gift of relaxation it will run you a steep $4,799.00. What to get for little bro who loves Star Wars (or for any other Star Wars fanatic for that matter) the R2-D2 Interactive Droid is a great pick and considering the other steep prices featured at Sharper Image $119.95 does not sound that bad. Finally have a mother who’s obsessed with a clean house and still complains between the housekeeper’s visits? Although getting people appliances is never my first choice and know that my mother would probably take insult… the Roomba 560 Vacuuming Robot is a great choice maybe more appropriate as a gag gift for a college student although at $349.95 may be a slightly steep price for a gag gift depending on your budget. I know I would love one! Be sure the visit the American Mall in Manhasset Long Island NY for great deals on high-end goods.
