“London to Brighton” goes into its second week at the Cinema Village

This is a tantalizing film about a naive girl who has runaway from home and finds herself unknowingly falling directly into the underbelly of the London underground. Joanne has lived the fast life of London for a long time and knows what it will do to a girl like Kelly. This movie ends with a great twist and leaves you yearning for more it will be showing at the Cinema Village through this weekend.

Indie Films Premiering in NYC this week: “London to Brighton” and “Caramel”

I began a project doing promotional work for a film called “London to Brighton” getting the word out about its US premier at the Cinema Village, NY February 8, 2008.

Today, as I posted the advance quotes released by critics such as Scott Hoffman, Moviepicturefilm.com I actually came across another film which is being released “Caramel”.

I was born in New York City, New York and have had the city coursing through my veins ever since. My parents are both immigrants my mother from France and my father from Lebanon. “Caramel” is a film set in modern day Lebanon depicting the lives of five women.

The director states:

“…I wanted to show a different Lebanon a Lebanon that you do not necessarily know…” She emphasized that: “…I was not going to talk about the war again…”

In a country which has been rated as the 8th least peaceful countries she wanted to bring a film which showed the people living their daily lives humanizing a country which has been torn by war for centuries now.

I have not spent much time in Lebanon and have always wanted to become more familiarized with my Lebanese culture. It touches on many issues taboo in the Arab world here is a report on NPR

“London to Brighton” has been praised by Scott Hoffman, MoviePictureFilm.com as being:

“A stunning cinematic achievement!”

“Unforgettable! Brilliant, intense and uncompromising. Prepare yourself.”

“A thought provoking shocker! It will stay with you for days.”

I look forward to hopefully catching Caramel this weekend at the Angelika Film Center

“London to Brighton” Critically Acclaimed Thriller NYC Premier

“London to Brighton” film opens at the Cinema Village, NY February 8, 2008.

From the minute the movie opens you are taken in and begin to question what exactly this eleven year old girl is doing in a dirty bathroom after having been left there by an older woman with a black eye. As the well directed, and filmed movie continues you begin to understand that the young girl, Joanne, is a runaway and the older woman, Kelly, a prostitute are on the run.

This is a great film which features music from the London underground with artists such as: lol Hammond’s Myspace , Plan B’s Myspace , Meeker’s Myspace , and Roger Eno’s Myspace .

Be sure to see this film which is premiering in NYC February 8; bring your friends to experience a part of the London underground. Brought to you by Outsider Pictures
