Holiday week - “Wizard of OZ” in Huntington NY

The 42nd Annual Huntington Summer Arts Festival is in full swing.  Music, dance, theatre and more is featured in free events Tuesday through Sunday from June 22nd to August 19th. (click for the text version of the Summer Arts Festival Calendar)

On July 3rd the “Wizard of Oz” is performed, a sure treat for people of all ages.

The events are in Hechsher Park in Huntington NY.  All performances are free to the public.  All shows begin at 8:30 PM.

Jones Beach Fireworks Celebration on July 4th

The annual fireworks event at Jone Beach State Park should be spectacular once again.  It starts at 9:30 PM on July 4th.  It is $8 per car to park.  Thousands of people turn out for this major holiday event on Long Island.  So get to the beach early to get a decent seat, and the same goes for boaters!  You would be surprised to know how many people watch the fireworks near Jones Beach each year.

Commerce Fireworks Esienhower Park June 30th

Tonight the Commerce Bank will sponsor a “Celebrate America” fireworks display.  The Grucci family is teaming up with Commerce Bank to put on a fantastic show.  It will be a workd-class computer-controlled fireworks program, something the whle family can enjoy. The event is at the Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park.

Several fireworks celebrations are being held this weekend on Long Island in addition to celebrations on July 4th, Independence Day. 

Fireworks begin early in Setauket NY

There are fireworks tonight inSeatuket as part of the Port Jefferson Lions Festival.  It is being held at Percy Raynor Park on Route 347.  There is food, live music and games today and tomorrow.  There weather is beautiful so enjoy the fireworks there tonight and many other places on Long Island on July 4th.

North Fork Wineries, Father’s Day Specials and Events

This is a great weekend to plan a day trip to the wine country on the north fork of eastern Long Island.  A number of the best wineries are offering special events for Father’s Day this Sunday, June 17th.

  • Lieb Family Cellars offers a wine and cheese pairing and tasting this Sunday. Lieb Family Cellars is located in Mattituck NY 11952.
  • Martha Clara Vineyards is offering a complimentary glass of wine on Father’s Day. Martha Clara Vineyards is Riverhead NY 11901
  • Macari Vineyards offer Dad a special item with a paid tasting - a Macari-engraved corkscrew utility knife. Macari Vineyards  is located in Mattituck NY 11952.
  • Palmer Vineyards will give fathers a complimentary special wine tasting. Palmer Vineyards is located in Aquebogue NY 11931
  • Pindar Vineyards family-friendly tasting room has a complimentary glass of wine for all Dads. Pindar Vineyards is located in Peconic NY, 11958.
