Ani DiFranco in the IMAC at Huntington, NY

Ani Difranco, the “righteous babe” is on tour this year and happens to stop by Huntington Village in Long Island to perform at the local concert hall, the IMAC center. The show is on January 17th, at 8pm

That’s the IMAC center, not an IMAX center with the cool surround sound and a huge screen.

Since the venue is all seat, and generally caters to an older audience, there can’t be any moshing- sorry guys, and gals. Instead it will be an “evening with singer/songwriter Ani DiFranco”. She will be joined by bassist Gail Ann Dorsey. She’s most known for working with David Bowie.

The IMAC itself is the Inter-Media Arts Center, a non-profit group that uses community support to schedule local, and national artists. Their audiences support the center through their memberships, government and private grants, and fund raisers. This creates an extremely strong relationship between the theater and their guests. It is one of the few places in Long Island where acts from jazz, blues, folk, country, americana, contemporary and world music can find a stage to perform, and an audience to hear them. Of course, as a theater they add dance and theatrical performances to their set lists.

Good luck Ani!

Tickets are on sale at the IMAC box office and website, TicketWeb, and the IMAC ticket hotline. The cost is $49.50, general admission, and $37.50 for members.
