Benefit Concert at Nag’s Head in Huntington Village, Long Island

On January 23rd from 7 to 10pm the Bob Morris Irish Band will be having a fundraiser at Nag’s Head in the heart of Huntington Village. The band is a traditional Irish group featuring 14 band members playing an assortment of traditional instruments, all in the name of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal. This is a church that was built in 1936 and was severely damaged by arson last month. The band is hoping to play a variety of shows across Long Island to raise support, awareness and funds to rebuild and get the church going again.

The church is located in Wyandanch and is the largest outreach center out of 134 parishes. The group offers support to over 1,000 people in the area. Of course the longer the church goes without rebuilding, the longer the suffering for those in need.

On that Wednesday night, I invite all to gather at the pub, which happens to be a favorite of mine anyway, and lets celebrate the rebirth of the community. No matter what your religious preference is, or your taste in music, come on over and lets have a drink. A drink to show that a dedicated and strong community can overcome any reckless act of violence, especially against a community devoted to peace and helping others. Lets prove to the arsonists that music and love will rebuild the church even stronger then before.
